On the heels of the recently released update for the Samsung Galaxy S II, Three has launched a firmware update for another Samsung device – Galaxy Ace, which is getting the Gingerbread treatment. Usually the first updates are rolled out via Samsung Kies service, but nothing stops you from checking whether the OTA update is available as well. Hit “Settings,” then “About phone” and check for the new software version from there. If that doesn’t work and you still want the latest version of Android OS for smartphones as soon as possible, I’m afraid you’ll have to install Sammy’s software.
If you recall, the Samsung Galaxy Ace is a mid-range smartphone with a 3.5-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen, HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity, 5-megapixel camera with auto-focus and LED flash, 800MHz processor and a memory card slot.
As for the Gingerbread update, it brings quite a few improvements when compared to Android 2.2 Froyo, including better Copy/Paste functionality, SIP-based Internet calling and downloads management.
